FAQs
Where are you located?
We are located in the heart of the beautiful coastal state of Rhode Island.
Can I visit you to see the fabric in person?
We are currently an online fabric store only. We do not have a storefront that can accommodate visitors at this time.
Do you offer in person pick-up for orders?
No, not at this time.
How is your fabric sold?
All our fabric is sold by the full yard except for Euro-ribbing or rib knit, which is sold by the 1/2 yard. Your order will be cut in one continuous length.
Do you offer a bulk discount?
Yes, an automatic 15% discount is calculated at checkout when you purchase 10+ yards of our fabric. Family Fabrics prints and uni-colors are not included in this offer.
What does GSM stand for?
GSM stands for grams per square meter and refers to the weight of a fabric. The higher a fabric's GSM, the thicker the fabric is. For example, a fabric that is between 220-240 gsm is considered a mid-weight fabric.
What are Pre-order Fabrics?
We carry a mixture of in stock and pre-order/custom-order fabrics in order to provide the widest range of fabric choices and prints.
We offer a curated collection of prints from popular designers such as Lumelo and Ginger, Wharfedale Studios, Claire Eddie Art, and more. These prints can be ordered across a range of fabric bases such as reactive printed jersey or French terry, and European jersey and French terry.
Please note: Designs on dark colored backgrounds print best on reactive printed fabrics. We will not place an order with a dark background for printing on European fabrics because we know you will not be happy with the result.
Special Requests: We can accommodate special fabric requests. Please contact us with the type of fabric you are looking for, and we'll get back to you with a quote.
Print scale: All Little Rhody pre-order designs are shown with a ruler to show scale. The scale of any design we own can be adjusted to your preferences. If you wish to order a design with a different scale, let us know. This does not include designs by Family Fabrics. We do not own these designs and we cannot have them adjusted.
Pre-order Deadlines: Orders are placed on the 15th of the month for reactive printed fabrics and twice per month Family Fabrics. Family Fabrics preorders are placed on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. The turnaround time for reactive printed fabrics is about 3-5 weeks from the time we place the order with our printer. For Family Fabrics, the turnaround time is about 1.5 - 2 weeks.
Estimated turn around time is the time it will take for the fabrics to reach us. Please see deadline information in the above paragraph for more information on deadlines and turnaround times. Please add an additional 3 - 5 additional transit days for the fabrics to reach you once we have them in hand from our printer.
When does your pre-order period for fabric end?
Family Fabrics and Euro-Solids: Our pre-order period ends each Monday at 12am and fabric orders are placed with our textile partners shortly thereafter. Any order for custom ordered fabrics received after 12am on Mondays will be held until the next week.
Little Rhody pre-order fabrics: Our pre-order period end date may vary each month. Please check our website or Facebook group for updated monthly end dates.
Orders Ship Complete. If your order contains a mix of pre-order/custom order fabrics and in-stock fabrics, your order will not ship until all fabrics are on hand. Please place separate orders if you wish for your in-stock fabric purchase to ship now.
Can I add to my order after it has been placed?
If your order has not shipped yet, you may use code COMBINEORDER to combine one or more orders together.
Although we are happy to combine orders if your first order has not already left our facility, please be aware that we ship quickly (usually within 1 - 3 business days). If your order has already been packed and shipped, we cannot combine the orders.
Can I cancel an order?
Since we begin packing your order shortly after receiving it, orders can only be canceled within 1 hour of placing your order. If you cancel an order that has already been processed, but not yet shipped, there will be a 20% restocking fee.
Please note: Pre-orders or custom-orders cannot be canceled for any reason once we place the order with our textile partners.
I have a discount code but I forgot to use it. Can you apply the discount and give me a refund?
All discount codes must be used at checkout. We cannot add a discount after the fact due to complications it will cause with payment processing.
What is your return policy?
Returns are accepted on fabric that is cut in 1 yard lengths or more within 5 days of order delivery. Fabric must be returned in the same condition it was received. Fabric must be returned undamaged, unwashed, and uncut as well as free of odors and pet hair. The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. You may also contact us for a return label and the cost of return shipping will be deducted from any refund. The original cost of shipping is NOT refundable.
I received fabric that is damaged. Now what?
All fabric is inspected for flaws and packaged carefully to avoid damage during shipping. If you receive fabric with significant flaws, or if your package arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your package.
What if there is a mistake with my order?
Please contact us with any questions or concerns about your order so we can work with you to find a solution.
It Started With a Love of Sewing And Fabric....
My name is Anne Aldridge-Baligian and I am the owner of Little Rhody Fabric. I live in the beautiful coastal state of Rhode Island with my husband Paul, and my youngest daughter, Abigail. I also have 4 adult children who have all flown the nest and two wonderful grandchildren.
I began selling fabric after my family-run business was shut down during the pandemic. My company had been in business for over 20 years and I suddenly found myself having to pivot, and pivot hard, to keep my business open. I began sewing fabric masks when face masks were in short supply at the start of the pandemic. As the demand for masks dwindled, I began to make children's clothing but could not find the types of prints I was looking for in my favorite fabrics...knit jersey and French terry.
Since that time I have begun dedicating all my time to Little Rhody Fabric. I search out European fabrics, mainly knits, that are not easily sourced in the USA, as well as designing custom seamless files that I use to print many of the Little Rhody Sewing Co.'s custom fabrics. These fabrics are offered here on my website and in my Etsy shop. I also make personalized baby and children's blankets, dolls, stuffed toys, and more.
I have been sewing for over 30 years and I am very particular about the fabric I use. As a mother of 5, and grandmother of 2, I have learned over the years that softness and durability matter. There is nothing worse than sewing up an article of clothing just to have it wear or fade quickly because the fabric wasn't good quality. My goal is to offer the highest-quality fabrics that will make hand-me-down worthy items for the children in your life.
I hope you enjoy looking through my website and that you will find some fabric that will inspire you. Happy sewing
